Today I’m talking with art of time collapsing expert Ed O’Keefe about how every entrepreneur can apply this method of time collapsing. Ed is the bestselling author of the book The Art of Time Collapsing; he’s a father of seven and the founder of Marine-D3 which sold over 50 million dollars of products online.

Concept of time collapsing

[2:25] The concept is how do you compress time frames so that you get what you want in your life much more rapidly than you ever thought was possible?

Leapfrogging to the top

[4:55] In the book Winning through Intimidation Robert Ringer talks about a concept called leap frogging to the top.

What this means is you have no moral or legal obligation to work your way through the ranks. In fact at any point in time you can claim yourself to be at the top of any industry or profession and just jump to it. And the concept is that all the competition is on the stairway to success. The leap frog theory is one of the core concepts of time collapsing.

What are you phenomenal at?

[8:50] Most people who are successful but experiencing a lot of friction are probably doing 80-90 percent of things correctly but their strategy is wrong, the model they are following is wrong or they are missing some specialized knowledge or the right team member. The first thing everyone has to figure out is who are you really?

[10:20] The magic trick is to find out what you have the potential to be phenomenal at that gives you a lot of energy, that people would line up and gladly pay you or your company for.

Leaving the friction

[12:00] In chapter four Ed talks about a concept called leaving the friction. This applies to people who are already doing good and people who are struggling.

[13:52] Most people need to remove things which is why it’s called leaving the friction.

[14:44] Where’s the tip of the spear where if I focus on that everything else becomes way easier? If I just refined that spear all the pieces would fall into place almost organically.

Directional Pull

[33:33] A tsunami occurs because there’s a shift underneath the ocean potentially hundreds of miles away from land. Nobody sees it, the only thing that can detect it is radar, yet it builds up all the momentum under the ocean and by the time anyone has an idea of what just happened it’s very powerful.

[34:26] When you start looking at and applying these concepts have an understanding that you might be grinding away a little bit underneath the surface for awhile. Know where to focus.

Improving your conversion rate

[42:34] One way to improve your conversion rate and increase the speed at which sales happen is you take your offer that is more benefit driven and flip it and say what is the core biggest pain that my customers are having? Then zero down on that niche.

Transparency of social media

[45:49] When I talk about where do you focus and why everything else is just noise (assuming you have a phenomenal product and there’s a case for dry testing and things like that) but now with the transparency of social media that transparency is the speed of growth if you’ve got good stuff and if you’ve got bad stuff it’s the speed of disaster.

Word of Caution

[48:15] A word of caution about growth. The reason they didn’t sustain the level of growth they had was because they grew too quickly.

[50:16] Stay focused on what is your sustainable growth rate, if you build the infrastructure, tracking and technology to support it, once you grow it so you can stay there and keep growing? That’s a better question then can I get this company to 30 or 50 million?

Three Key Take Aways

[52:03] 1. Power relationships: Two, five, twenty, one hundred, one thousand. Two models (he doesn’t recommend more than that) replicate their results and be literal with their system. Five people in your life that will support you when you screw up and help you get out of that situation. Twenty master mind partners, one hundred strategic relationships that are going to promote you and one thousand true fans concept.

[54:02] 2. Since your goals aren’t going to happen exactly as you think they are and you’re going to be waking up five years from now chasing another goal enjoy the process.

[54:50] 3. Kindness works. There’s no reason to alpha up or posture yourself. When you start looking at the people that are really making a difference, doing it the right way and are successful they are kind. You can go through life being right and better but it just causes friction. If you choose a kind path you might lose on the short term on some things but overall your energy pattern will attract the right things into your life.
